Married filed jointly – economic stimulus payment in one check or two and based on who’s SSAN?

economic stimulus

My husband and I filed jointly on our 2007 tax return. I am wondering if we’ll get one economic stimulus check for each of us- or will they be sending it lumped into one check? Also- there’s a payment schedule online based on social security numbers, but will the check(s) be sent based on my SSAN or my husband’s? Thanks for any input.

  1. one return = one check.
First name on return = SSN for schedule.

  2. The economic stimulus payment will be issued with the primary SSN, this is usually the husband’s SSN. One check will be issued.

  3. One check and it will probably be listed by his name I believe men are always listed first on the irs forms.

  4. It will be one check based on whoever’s social was listed first on the tax return. Here is a website that has information about when the checks or deposits will come and a link to more information on how to know what your stimulus payment will be. Hope it helps!

  5. The stimulus payment refund will be mailed or direct depositied in one lump sum. The IRS will deliver based on the primary social security number that was used to file your 2007 taxes. If your husband was put as the head of houshold then the IRS will use the last 2 digits of his social security number.

  6. One Check, based on first filer’s SSN (not necessarily the husband). They are trying to have ALL direct deposits done by May 2. Paper checks moved up 1 week from posted schedule on irs.gov.

  7. One check per return. The schedule will be based on whoever’s ss# was listed first on the return.

  8. The check’s based on the last 2 numbers of the SSN that’s listed first on the return. There will be only one check.
