Where is this $150,000,000,000.00 “economic stimulus package” coming from? Let’s make this really clear. The United States government does not have any money. On the contrary, the national debt now stands at $9.2 trillion dollars, which is more than 61 times more than the “package.” So, as they don’t have the money to give, those $600 checks they plan to mail out this spring will literally comprise just printing money.
I am a 17 year old dependent minor who has been working for the past year and a half and last year I made around $8000. Am I going to recieve a check from the government due to the economic stimulus package? And will my parents recieve a $300 check for me as well?
If one spouse is working and the other doesn’t but file a joint tax return, will the new economic stimulus package give us each $600 or just to the working spouse?

I filed my taxes early using Turbo Tax and got direct deposit in February but I also filed for a 1040x via mail around April 1st and all ready recieved a printed check for the amendment. Will I get my economic stimulus through the mail or through direct deposit?
I am curious as to how much ‘free money’ I can expect to get from Uncle Sam when the checks get sent out as part of The President’s economic stimulus package. How is it going to be determined?
I just think that it is strange that george bush introduces the economic stimulus package, and right before the checks start hitting gas prices are at record highs and climbing. I am not trying to make accusations, or claim that there is a conspiracy. Oh yeah, I purposely did not capitalize gwb’s name or initials.
So I got married at the very end of 2007. My wife is a full time student and her father wants to file her as a dependant for 2007 since he helped with her tuition. If he files her as a dependant, can we file jointly? Also, do you need to be filed jointly to be considered a married couple in eligibility for the economic stimulus package? My income is too high (>$75k) to be eligible by myself.
I did not receive any notices in the mail regarding my economic stimulus package and should be getting one. The IRS site has something where you can look “wheres my stimulus” about one week before it is supposed to be deposited into my bank account, which is now. That is not coming up with any information. I am worried that I will not be getting one for some reason. I am at the same address as whe I filed my tax returns as well… I don’t owe any federal debt and I am in the correct tax liability bracket.. Anyone have any ideas or same experiences with this?
