My husband and I filed jointly on our 2007 tax return. I am wondering if we’ll get one economic stimulus check for each of us- or will they be sending it lumped into one check? Also- there’s a payment schedule online based on social security numbers, but will the check(s) be sent based on my SSAN or my husband’s? Thanks for any input.
How is the Economic Stimulus Rebate 2008 calculated. According to the irs calculator (available in irs.gov site) for single filing its $600 & joint filing its $1200. I filed jointly & with a dependent for 2007 tax returns but received only $900 towards stimulus rebate. Where can I appeal for this.
Each year, our federal and state income tax refunds are kept by our state government and applied to a small past due child support debt my husband owes. When the Economic Stimulus rebate checks are mailed later this year, will my husband and I receive that money, or will it also be applied to the old debt?
I’m talking about the one that GW Bush supposedly just signed or something? Honestly not too sure about the details, but I made a little over $20,000 in 2007, and I was doing my taxes using the Turbotax website and the economic stimulus rebate never came up on the software.
I had a young lady from church call me today to say that because her spouse is in prison her bank will not let her deposit the check received b/c both spouses cannot be there. Surely this isn’t true? She is an educated lady, I find it hard to believe she can’t mail him the check, have him sign it, mail it back to her and then she sign it and deposit? Is there something about the Economic Stimulus checks that require both spouses to be present at the bank to deposit it?
I paid this semesters tuition with it. It did not help my household at all. I view the economic stimulus checks as an ineffective bandage on a hemorrhaging economy. Lowering the price of fuel and groceries across America would have been more effective in my opinion. What do you think?
My parents didn’t send in their taxes yesterday. They are also not “required” to file taxes because of their income level. If they send it in late (although I know they’ll pay a penalty), can they still receive the economic stimulus payment?
I owe about $600 for 2006 which I will be making installment payments this year. I file myself as single. Will I get a economic stimulus rebate check in May or will the Gov’t just apply that to the $600 I owe?
I had to file an extension for my taxes this year. I should have everything complete within a week or so though. How will this effect the status of my economic stimulus check. If they pass my number over, will I have to wait until they have gone through all of them before they back over again? Thanks.
