AIG, according to a relative of mine in Wallstreet, is going down! ?

AIG a large insurance company is going to file for bankruptcy later today.

My “connection” says this will be devastating. They cannot say how so, the question is how is this devastating?

I understand the basics of insurance. That is the transfer of risk. That insurance companies bet on getting more in premiums than they have to pay out in claims. What I’m trying to understand is, how deeply insurance, our ability to purchase it, affects our economy. Please if you could give me some answers regarding this or point me to a site where I can find more information it would be great.

What are your feelings about the bailout?

Michael Moore made an interesting comment on Larry King Live tonight. He thinks that the Big 3 are going into panic mode and asking for more money because they saw Barack Obama coming and taxing anybody who makes more than $200K a year. I must say I’m on the fence about this one. I think that if the automotive industry goes under that will cause a devastating blow to an already deteriorating economy. What are your feelings about the bailout?

What is this bailout plan that everyone is talking about?

I was watching Glenn Beck and they wwere talking about this bailout plan that’s going cost $700 billion. I have no clue what it is and I really want to know. D=
